Healing & Therapy
Modern science has begun to recognize the value of yoga’s ancient wisdom as it is being integrated into conventional medical care around the world. Yoga is effective and time-tested and offers an immensely practical method for improving health and the quality of life, psychological wellbeing, and joyful living.

This module will look into some of the yoga therapy fundamentals; such as asanas, pranayama-breathing, relaxation and meditation techniques and how they are integrated and applied in yoga therapy concepts. Furthermore, you will be updated on the latest reasearch on the therapeutic effects of yoga, and get a basic knowledge of the most common mental illnesses.

All yoga is therapeutic in the core, but its effect on the student depends on the teachers ability to teach each student individually and support whatever arises in the class. We will learn the difference between a traditional yoga class and a therapeutic yoga class. You will learn how to make your classes trauma sensitive with just small changes in the way you teach.

Whilst the physical yoga practice has many brilliant side effects, such as getting stronger and more flexible, getting fitter, yoga has considerable more depth. The practice offers us tools to discover the layers in ourselves, the destructive patterns that we are caught in, the subtle layers of how we understand who we are. Through our lives we build up an understanding of ourselves, based on our relational and emotional experiences, and the yoga practice offers us an opportunity to explore this

This module will offer space to explore one’s own self. Through listening inwards, through the body, you will be encouraged to investigate what comes up, what it relates to in yourself, and how this can be worked on through your practice, so you can become more free and stable in your life, and thereby guide others in such a journey. This will be done through meditation, drawing, dialogue, teaching and physical asana practice.
