Workshops Descriptions

Romance your spirit
Does your practice brighten or dim your Spirit? Make the choice to brighten up and fascinate in process! Forrest Yoga teaches you to focus your intent on connecting to and Romancing your Spirit. How? By  choosing, in  the moment, to breathe in a way that brightens you; to do your poses in a way that invites your Spirit to permeate into all of your body. This welcomes your Spirit home.

Unraveling the Mysteries of the neck, shoulders and hips (1/2 and 2/2)
In this Forrest Yoga session, you learn to create freedom and strength in hip, neck and shoulders. You will learn to safely unlock these habitual tension spots through intensely focused breathwork and asana (including inversions, standing poses and vinyasa). Strengthen and lengthen the muscles around these joints and create space in these areas. This work helps you walk through your life with grace and freedom.

Working with an Emotional Issue in your Life
Forrest Yoga provides a safe sanctuary for students to explore their unique healing process. Learn to use the skillful focus of breath, asana and intent as tools to work with your specific emotional issue. Connect to and begin unraveling the twisted patterning that has been stored in your muscle and bone tissue from life experiences or traumas. Forrest Yoga teaches you skills for living your life with a new sense of relief and freedom.
This workshop begins with a short, yet very special Ceremony of song, invocation & smoke blessing. Ana & Medicine Man, Jose Calarco set the intent for the practice and honor the ancestors and custodians of our sacred land.

About Forrest Yoga
Forrest Yoga is renowned globally as a powerfully physical, internally focused practice that emphasizes how to carry a transformative experience from the mat into daily life. Together husband and wife duo, Ana Forrest & Jose Calarco are at the forefront of the Yoga world guiding its future and evolution. They create profound experiences and a vision quest for something truly sacred in life. In their unique style Ana & Jose weave intelligent pose sequencing with a spiritual intent, blending music, song, invocation, smoke blessing, storytelling, prayer, philosophy, primordial and shamanic healing practices into each event. Ana & Jose teach the art of self-empowerment and establishing a re-connection to Spirit and Nature.

For over the last four decades, Ana Forrest, the Founder of Forrest Yoga, has been bringing her particular brand of Fierce Medicine to the Yoga world. An internationally recognized pioneer in yoga and emotional healing, Ana created Forrest Yoga while working through healing from her own life’s traumas and experience.

Ana weaves Native American Ceremony into her classes and workshops, calling in the power of the Four Directions.  Her co-director of Forrest Yoga Jose Calarco comes from a long history of Shamanism, the arts, music and healing, bringing his decades of experience as an artistic prodigy to Forrest Yoga. Jose is also Director of the legendary Australian indigenous company Descendance Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Dance Theatre . Descendance won the UNESCO competition as world’s best indigenous live show in a field of over 70 countries.

Together Ana and Jose teach the art of learning to love again, and give students the tools to create their own sense of hope and direction in life.

Ana Forrest
Ana Forrest is an inspiration. She has been changing people’s lives for over 40 years and is an internationally-recognized pioneer in yoga and emotional healing. Ana is a Medicine Woman, the creatrix of Forrest Yoga and author of the highly-acclaimed book, Fierce Medicine.

Ana created Forrest Yoga as she worked through her own life traumas—including abuse, addictions and an unhealthy relationship with food—to find healing. She teaches from an intuitive and highly-developed understanding of the human body and psyche. Native American Medicine and the clinical application of healing modalities—including homeopathic and naturopathic remedies, reflexology, pressure point & craniosacral therapies, Shiatsu, chiropractic, and hands-on healing—always inform her work.

Ana’s Spirit pledge is to do her part in ‘Healing the Hoop of the People’. It’s her life’s work. Each year she gives thousands of people the tools to help them design a life that makes them proud.

Ana received a Los Angeles Mayoral Commendation for her outstanding teaching and healing work in the community — the first time a major U.S. city bestowed such an honor on a yogi or yogini!

Thousands of yoga teachers have been trained and/or inspired by Ana, including many internationally recognised names such as Seane Corn, Les Leventhal and Tiffany Cruikshank. Ana headlines at yoga events across the globe, contributes regularly to many yoga, health and Spirituality publications, and is a guest lecturer at educational institutions.

Together with her husband, Jose Calarco, she has designed a collection of Yoga leggings made by Bombsheller and has recently been featured as a guest vocalist in Jose’s World Music compositions on iTunes.
